Day 2: January 15, 2022

Guest Speaker: Joshua Simeon

It’s another great day to develop our voice as an artist!

It started with Sir Jeffrey’s opening remarks and reminder about the golden rule:

“Do unto others the things that you want to be done to you”.

On this day, I enjoyed learning so many things from Sir Joshua. He taught us generally all about how to develop our voice.

While it’s true that we should accept our voice, however, in voice acting we should learn the variety of our voice and explore its flexibility so we can utilize it properly. We should learn that we can sound in a diverse tone and not sound monotonous. Since our voice is very dynamic, we can change and improve it.

“Our voice is not just a gift. It is our choice.”

Because of that, we can do so many things with our voices. We definitely just have one voice but it’s very possible that we can sound with variety or in short, we can do many character voices out with our single voice.

Knowing the pitch, volume, and tempo, we could, later on, learn how to level our voice tone, how we can add emotion to add emphasis by exploring our pitch range, to project our voice by adjusting the volume and we can control our voice pace if we can handle our tempo properly.

Moreover, Sir Joshua also discussed the 6 elements in creating a character voice and how to properly care for our voice.

The afternoon session was a bit exciting and challenging because we were given time to write our AVP by Sir Jeff who allowed us to deliver in front of everyone and read it in three-character voices.

I am a bit challenged because I had flu at that time, but I knew I did my best.

Surprisingly, I did something that is unusual, and I was able to learn that through my voice I could do various characters.

Such an unexplored gift indeed and CVAP uncovered it for me.
